Hello everyone! I really don't like these about pages. I never know what to write and when I do, it all seems so boring. Where to begin? Keeping it all photography related I guess I'll start with my first camera. I don't remember how old I was but I can tell you my first camera was a Bazooka Joe palm sized mini camera. You got it by sending in 10 Bazooka Joe wrappers and like $1.60 for shipping. It took 10 B&W photos and it actually worked although getting film for it was a challenge.
Several years later I purchased a Canon AE1 along with several lenses, which I still have. I used it sparingly only because I didn't have the time to be any more than a Holiday time photographer. I was in the Marine Corps and no, it wasn't as a photographer. Just before retiring from the Marines I started to look at the fancy new digital phase of photography. In 2012 I purchased my first digital camera which was a Canon T1i, a basic entry level camera.
I learned digital photography for about a year before I made the jump to a professional level camera and lenses. I am a self taught photographer, no classes or any formal training. I learned everything directly off of YouTube and then practicing on my own. In my opinion, thats the best way, so you develop your own style of photography instead of trying to copy someone else's.
In 2015 I made the leap into my own gallery here in Beaufort and in 2017, I moved my business to Bay Street. I love everything about photography and really enjoy talking photography with anyone willing to listen. So if your ever in Beaufort and want to chat photography, stop by my gallery any time you like. Thanks for visiting my website and if I can assist you in any way please feel free to contact me. Phil
